Weather | | How much crime? | | What are the neighborhoods like? | | What are the people like? |
West Palm Beach has weather typical of southern Florida. Warm weather throughout the year. The winter season is usually warm with temperatures in the 50s or 60s, however, it can get to the 80s. It can also experience cold winters, which has been happening lately. Temperatures have dipped down to the 30s and 40s with flurries or light snow. The good thing is that the snow doesn't last long or stick. The spring months are warm as well as is the fall season. Not too much change in foliage during the fall months. Hurricane season is in full effect during the fall. Tornadoes can occur during the fall and spring months. | | West Palm Beach has it's crime. Property crime is very high - burglaries and theft. Robbery can also be high at times. Murders are not that common but they do occur, especially in the low-income neighborhoods. In the past several years, crime has decreased but it's still high. | | The best parts of town for middle income residents is Riveria Beach and the areas close to Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach. Jupiter Island is another great neighborhood. Most of the homes in these areas consists of upper-middle class residents. There are a number of wealthy residents that live in Singer Island. Most residents are White Americans. Therefore, the homes are pretty expensive.

The area is comprised of lower to middle class with a mixture of races, including white, black, Hispanic, and people from the islands. Boynton is also another neighborhood to avoid. Crime is very high including violent crime. Most residents are low-income. The area has mostly Black and Hispanic residents with a mixture of residents from the Caribbeans, Jamaica, and other islands. | | This being Florida, almost every lifestyle and person will fit. There is a mixture of young and old residents. Many of the older residents have moved South to retire or they live there during the winter months. I would say it's a 50/50 mix of young and old. Mos of the people work in the white-collar industries. Not too many blue-collar workers since West Palm Beach is more of a white-collar and technology-based city. As far as ethnic groups, there is a good mixture. The white population is probably about 60%, black population about 20%, and Hispanic population about 20%. There is a large amount of people who moved to Florida from the Islands. |

The shopping/downtown area is on Clematis Street. It is historic West Palm Beach but has many shopping area, historic attractions, and cultural events located in the area. They have a quality curriculum and an average graduation rate of 85%. However places like Boynton Beach and some of the other lower income districts, the schools are below average. The dropout rates are higher. | | Plenty of opportunities for singles exist in West Palm Beach. One of the cities in Florida, where there are not more older people than younger. West Palm Beach has bars, clubs, and activities for singles all throughout the city. |
Noise | | town comparison vs. | | Best hospital | | Tourist attractions |
There is not too much unusual noise. The highways are not that congested and the airport is not too bad. The only noise would come from the airport. | | Compared to Miami, West Palm Beach is cleaner and has fewer immigrants. Compared to Miami, the city has less attractions and the beach is further away. It also is more reserved and conservative than Miami. Compared to Orlando, West Palm Beach is faster, has more immigrants, is less friendly, and has less attractions. But it has nicer neighborhoods to live in. West Palm Beach also has more younger residents and a trendier culture. | | There are a few very good hospitals that provide excellent and quality care. Good Samaritan Medical Center, West Palm Hospital, and St Mary's Medical Center. | | Downtown West Palm Beach, Juniper (there are many wealthy homes in the area and very large golf centers). The beach is always a place to visit. Singer Island is nice, especially the beach. And City Place is the place to go to shop. |
General comments | | | | | | |
The people in West Palm Beach can be friendly but it depends on what location and if they are Florida-grown, meaning they lived in Florida all their lives. I find that the ones that were born in Florida are a little nicer than the implants. It's a typical Florida city with many people importing from northeastern cities, which can cause the people to be a little rude, blunt, and move fast, although they don't drive fast or reckless. | | | | | | |
