Wilmette's weather mimics Chicago's particularly since it is at the lakefront. In the summers it varies from 70 to 80 and has less humidity than towns further from the lake because it enjoys the lake breeze. In the winters it varies from low 20's to 30's but the breeze from Lake Michigan can make it feel much colder. rain is typically in the spring and is not excessive. Snowfall ia average for the region with usually no more than around 60 inches for the whole winter. | | Wilmette has very little crime at all. It is far below the national average in all categories. The highest number of crimes are in the burglary category, but even that is extremely low. | | There really are no best or worst parts of Wilmette. It has next to no multi-unit buildings and those are very pricey. The most crime occurs in southern Wilmette where it borders Evanston or the far western side that is near Old Orchard shopping center and the Edens Expressway. | | The people are friendly, but if you are looking for the block party crowd, this isn't the place to be. The people here are friendly with their neighbors, get together at school events and fundraising activities. Their children tend to remain with the same classmates from kindergarten through high school which provides stability and makes it a great place to raise a family. Most of the residents are upper class and thevast majority havae college degrees and are in white collar professions. |

Downtown sopping is what can only be described as quaint. It has a cobblestone appearance and makes you think you have stepped back in time. There are no big stores or superstores, the area is mainly specialty shops. | | There are almost no restaurants in Wilmette. The entire suburb is nearly all residential. The restaurants are found in the shopping area and the few that exist are mostly cafe style. | | The public schools are excellent and have high graduation rates. Most of the graduates attend college. Their sports programs are superior and their games are well attended. | | Wilmette has no night clubs or bars. It is difficult to get liquor licenses in Wilmette, so unless you are a member of a private club or country club or boat club, singles tend to go to Chicago for entertainment. |

It is nowhere near O'Hare so there are no unusual noises. | | It is the beginning of what is considered the North Shore,by Chicago residents. As you move north, the areas get wealthier. Wilmette is the beginning of this rise. It is similar to Winnetka and Glenview. | | Evanston Hospital is just south of Wilmette and is the best hospital in the area. | | The lakefront is the best place to go in Wilmette. There really is nothing else there to do unless you are a member of a club or organization. |

It is a nice town but seems rather closed to outsiders. The people tend to associate with their own crowd and also with the people they work with. It is a quiet, peaceful place, where you ill have children plating in large backyards rather than in the front of the house. | | | | | | |
