The weather is hot and humid in the summers. In July and August highs are in the 90's. The high humidity makes the heat worse.Winters are mild with highs in the 50's in December and January.Crime is about average for Arkansas with not much violent crime. There are a good number of thefts and burglaries.West Crossett is a good neighborhood. The area is mostly white and not heavily populated. The area around North Virginia is not so good.The people of Crossett are friendly and easy to get to know. The population is about 60% white. Most people in Crossett are blue collar workers.

There is good shopping in the area of Main Street with many stores. A new WALMART east of town has new stores moving in around it.Fiesta Linda which serves good Mexican food and the Woodlands are the best restaurants. There are the usual fast food outlets.Crossett is in a dry county-no alcohol sales. Monroe Louisiana which is about 40 miles away is the place to gofor singles.The Georgia-Pacific paper mill is the source of much pollution.Pacific paper mill is the source of a lot of noise.

The nearest town is Hamburg which is the county seat of Ashley county. There is rivalry between Crossett and Hamburg. Crossett is larger and has more jobs.The Ashley County Medical Center is the local hospital.The Crossett City Park is nice, which contains the Crossland zoo. Every year Crossett hosts a P.R.C.A. rodeo.Coming into Crossett the first thing that hits a person is the HUGE Georgia-Pacific paper mill which is just north of Highway 82. The paper mill is huge and dominates Crossett. Crossett is a mill town. There have been layoffs at the mill. Crossett's population is declining.
