Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Glendale, Arizona? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Glendale?
WeatherSafetyNeighborhoodsPeople
Glendale Arizona has a warm and temperate climate with more rains in the winter than in the summer. Annual average temperature is 18 degrees centigrade and yearly average precipitation is 411mm. July is the driest month with 0mm while January is the wettest with a yearly average of 91mm. Being in southern California where the weather can be very harsh, Glendale experiences gusty winds, storms, mudslides and floods especially in winter. On Tuesday 29th April 2014 police were informed of a man and woman believed to have stole skin-care and teeth-whitening products worth several hundred dollars. Two days later, a Glendale man tried to steal a child's bicycle but ended up falling over and injuring himself instead. He was charged for burglary and being in possession of drugs. You couldn't say there are terrible places in Glendale. But it's well known there that the further north you go, the nicer and more expensive it becomes. Montrose is particularly very good with fairly priced homes and quite safe. It also has low crime rates and an abundance of local amenities. CapnHawk which is found around Galleria Mall is considered the most unsafe part of the town. Even crossing the road with so many people around you feels unsafe. The schools in the area aren't impressive and basic amenities are scarce.Glendale has a total population of approximately 190,000 with a population growth of -1.7 according to the 2013 statistics. There are more females than there are males (female to male ratio is 1:0.9). 56% of the total population are 15 years or older and married. Most residents (333%) speak English and about 17% are Spanish speakers. The town has very few African Americans compared to the national percentages but has a very high number of Asians compared to the national ratios. Caucasians make the largest population.

The Glendale Galleria and Americana are two of the most popular shopping centers in the area. There, you can find almost anything you are looking for and prices are usually very fair. The Peruvian, CA Raffis Place, Carousel Restaurant, Porto's Bakery and Ricky's Fish Tacos are some of the most raved restaurants. The town has a total of 22 public schools. Some of the top rated ones include John C Flemont Elementary School, Mark Keppel Elementary School and Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School. With 56 percent of the population already married, the town is dominated by families living together so singles won't really get the best time there.
NoiseCompared to other placesBest hospitalTourist attractions
Glendale can be said to be quiet apart from the leaf blowers who can sometimes make the place inhabitable. The beeping and slamming of garbage trucks can sometimes be too much. There is also helicopter noise, barking dogs and screaming babies.Glendale's neighbors aren't exactly different in many ways. Buckeye for example is much more rural compared to Glendale and therefore quieter. But it still has all the amenities necessary for a family with modest needs. Wal-Mart is within a few miles and there are several restaurants, a nice library and so much more. You can even make it to the museum without problems. But again you'd have to choose Glendale just because Buckeye's schools are below par.The Glendale Memorial Hospital is the main health facility in the area and is very well equipped with highly qualified personnel. When visiting Glendale or for residents keen to take a break from the norm and have a nice weekend out, there are several places you can try out. Embassy Suites is one such place which has so much to love. Vagabond Inn is also quite handy, neat and very welcoming. Then there is Extended Stay America, Glenn Capri Inn and Suites as well as Hotel Brandwood among others.
General comments
Being pretty safe with minimal criminal activity and a fair weather, Glendale is as fair a town as you can find. The population is also well mixed with Asians, African Americans, American Indians, native Hawaiians and mixed races among others all living peacefully. There are not many towns in the wider California let alone the U.S. where people co-exist in such harmony.
