The summers here are relatively hot and humid. The average temperature during the summer is 90'to 95' during the day. If the day has been usually hot (95'or so) there is an occasional thunderstorm with dangerous lightning and heavy rain. Summer nights do cool off a bit but not a lot. Winters are cold with the temperature of about 30' to 40' during the day. You will need a coat at night if you go out but you could get away with a thick jacket or sweater during the day. Some winters are filled with snow and/or ice storms. On rare, weird winters there are mild temperatures of about 50' to 55' during the day. The Spring and Fall seasons here are very nice with a daytime temperature of about 65 to 75 degrees.Monroe, NC is a small city that rubs elbows with a growing metropolitan and as a result it sees its share crime. It has a few law offenders that commit auto thefts, burglaries, assaults, and drug related crimes. There are a few scam artists which try to run scams on the locals but they usually do not get very far with their schemes. Even though Monroe residents hear of and/or experience some level of crime, they still feel safe majority of the time on the streets of this nice little city.The best side of town is toward the north western side of town near Wesley Chapel, NC. The homes in this area are larger homes and they have beautiful, well kept yards. There are homes with private swimming pools and nice size backyards. Most of the people living in this area are Caucasian with a little African Americans and even fewer Hispanics. You will see a few East Indian and Asian families in this area as well.
The not so nice area of town is along the southern side of town near Icemorlee Street where there is some low income housing. The railroad is also on this side of town and can be noisy at times. Most of the residents in this area are African American, Hispanic, and a few Caucasian.
The people of Monroe, NC are nice and friendly. There are more blue collar workers in this town than white collar workers. Monroe is a diverse little city but the majority of its residents are Caucasian, Hispanic, and African American. The Hispanic community as really flourished in Monroe, NC and you will see this growth all around Monroe from the flea market to the large amount of Hispanic styles restaurants popping up all over town. If you are single, retired, and or married with a family you will all enjoy Monroe, NC.

Monroe, NC has a really nice downtown area with a lot of historical buildings and homes. It alos has some modern buildings and the majority of its governmental business is stationed in the downtown area. It is clean and well kept.Monroe, Nc has a lot of great restaurants from commercial to independently owned. The nice restaurants are Big Bob Gibson's BBQ, Duke's Grill, and Taqueria La Unica.The schools in Monroe, NC good. Monroe's schools are however, a part of the Union County School System which is currently going through a huge redistricting process and many of the parents in this entire school system are not happy with this process. If the redistricting process passes it will force students from particular neighborhoods to attend a school in an undesirable school.This is a little city which is very close to a larger city and it has a lot to offer for singles. Singles will have plenty of opportunities to meet someone in Monroe and if not Monroe, Charlotte is only an hop away.

There is a railroad which runs along the southern part of Monroe and the residents in the area are sure to hear the trains that actively use it. There is also an heavily used highway which runs through Monroe and it is busy. Highway 74 is used by locals, travelers going to the beaches in the east, and truckers transporting goods. Residents which reside near highway 74 are sure to hear its traffic.Monroe, NC to Wesley Chapel NC- Monroe has more shopping centers and commercail restaurants to chose from. Monroe is larger than Wesley Chapel and has more opportunity for career developement.
Monroe, NC to Weddington, NC- Monroe is larger than Weddington, NC and it has more to offer in the way of entertainment than Weddington. Monroe has more restaurants to chose from and it has a movie theater. Weddington does not have a movie theater but Weddington has more gated communities than Monroe.
The heavily used hospital in Monroe is Carolinas Medical Center at Monroe. It is part of a huge healthcare system and it is a good hospital. Most of the residents of Monroe use this hospital but some major illnesses and surgeries are treated in Charlotte, NC.The nicest place to visit in Monroe is the downtown area, Sweet Union Flea Market, and The Heritage Room.
General comments   
Monroe, Nc is a small city that rub elbows with a large metropolian. It is busy just at the right time and quiet just at the right time. It is busy with all of the travelers stopping through to take a break on their journey. The locals of Monroe, NC are more than happy to share their little city with the travelers and not to mention the traffic is great for businesses in Monroe.
