Are you thinking of moving or relocating to Palm Springs, California? Would you like to know what the quality of life is like living in Palm Springs?
WeatherSafetyNeighborhoodsPeople
Since this town is in a desert the weather is generally always hot. In the summer months the temperature averages at about 110 degrees. In the winter months the average temperature is 70 degrees. There are always heavy winds in this town with occasional heavy rain in the winter. There are no flooding, mud slides, snow, or hurricanes or tornado's in this town. The crime rate in this town is very high and it's not that safe of a town to live in to raise families. The kinds of crime I've heard of happening in this town are property crimes, robbery, and theft. About 44% of the crimes in this town are thefts, and 35% burglaries. The best parts of town are in the neighborhoods of S Palm Canyon Dr/ E Bogert Trail. The median home prices in this part of the city is $717,000 with the rental prices being $1,459. Most of the homes are established but not old, having been built between 1970-1999. Majority of the races that live here are White, Russian , and European. The lower quality parts of town would be the neighborhood of Snow Creek. The homes are primarily made up of 1 to 2 bedroom apartments and 3 bedroom homes. Most of the people living in this neighborhood are White. Most of the people in this town are same sex couples, or retired. There's a large gay community in this town with quite a few hippies as well. The people can be friendly and some are rude. Those who want to live away from the city life, enjoy the heat, and are planning to retire would enjoy living here. Those who are single, want to raise a family, and young would not fit in a town like this because there isn't much to offer and it can get boring.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The shopping centers here are good especially on the main strip in Palm Springs. There are a variety of little shops and restaurants. There is also a nearby shopping outlet with high end clothing stores and restaurants. The best restaurants in this town are Purple Palm Restaurant, Matchbox Palm Springs, and La Perlita Mexican food. The quality of schools are average. There aren't many schools in this town because its in a desert and most of the teachers could use more cultural education and better counselors. There are quite a few night clubs and bars here for singles to meet. They offer a variety of restaurants on the main strip of Palm Springs.
NoiseCompared to other placesBest hospitalTourist attractions
There is an airport nearby and that would be a cause of unusual disturbance for some residents. There is also a lot of heavy winds through out the summer months and that can bother some people.Compared to its neighboring town of Palm Desert. Both are of the same terrain but Palm Desert is more expensive and has less crime rates. Palm Springs offers less schools and the city is better for retirees. Palm Desert would be a better place to live because its much cleaner, and offers better shopping and restaurants. The homes here are beautiful and have gated communities.Desert Regional Medical Center is the nearest hospital in this town. The quality of the hospital is average. From what I've heard the physician assistants are unprofessional and the hospital charges you quite a bit. Some of the nicest places to visit are Knotts Soak City, Downtown Palm Springs, Golf Resort, and the O'Donnell House Historic tour.
General comments
My general impressions of this town is that its slow and not overly crowded. It's very hot here with a beautiful scenery. You get the feel of just wanting to walk around in t shirts and shorts because it's always hot. The city feels as though you're at the beach but you're not. Palm Springss is a great place to visit in the spring and summer months just to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's a great place for vacations.
