The weather in Union City is rather average for this area. We get a fair amount of snow in the winter, which are typically very cold. For one thing, we get a lot of nor'easters as well as a fair amount of lake-effect snow from the west. In the summer, we have a lot of hot and humid weather that tends to spark several thunderstorms and even a rare tornado. We have also had some hurricanes in the area lately, and they have been rather devastating. There is a fair amount of crime in this area. Like many other cities around here, there is a lot of organized crime that focuses on gambling, drugs as well as extortion. There is also quite a problem with drug use that has plagued the city lately, resulting in several deaths. Another one of the problems that we face in this area is theft, which is mostly people stealing each other's smartphones and other electronics while on the trains. The best parts of town are to the north, towards Fort Lee. There are many houses and mansions in the cliffs around this area that overlook the Hudson River. The people that live in these houses are very wealthy, and are mostly white and Italian. The houses are very large and modern, and even include houses that are designated as estate mansions. The worst part of town is to the south over by Passaic. There tends to be a lot of crime in this area and most of the homes are rowhomes and apartments. The people in this part of town are racially diverse and are middle class. For the most part there people in this area are middle aged, married, and white. While they do not tend to discriminate against other people who come to try to live here, the people in the wealthy area look down on other people that are not wealthy, white or Italian. In the poor section of town, the people look at the wealthy people as marks for crime as well as looking down upon others. However, they tend to band together to get through the hard parts of life such as during blizzards and more recently during the hurricanes.
Downtown AreaRestaurantsSchoolsSingle life
The downtown shopping area is rather nice but it is dwarfed by the presence of Manhattan. The best restaurants are called Morris Thai Cuisine as well as the quirky Van Gogh's Ear Cafe. The public schools in this area are decent, with plenty of funding but also some students that cause administrative problems. There are plenty of bars, clubs, parks, and restaurants in the Union Square area to meet singles.
NoiseCompared to other placesBest hospitalTourist attractions
There is a lot of noise from the highway as well as from the airport in New York. One of the neighboring towns is Manhattan, which is connected to Union City via the Lincoln Tunnel. They have all of the best shopping, the most interesting groups of people, and have some of the most historic places and best restaurants in the world. It would be much better to live in Manhattan than in Union City. Another one of the closest towns is called West New York, although it is located in New Jersey. They have expensive houses and some of the best views of Manhattan in the state. They also have access to the city via Fort Lee and some decent shopping. It is better to live in Union City. The local hospital is the Pallisades Medical Center and they are an average hospital with good care for minor injuries. The nicest places to visit are the riverfront, city hall, and the library.
General comments
Generally, the town is very nice in the north, but the people up in that area would not give you a cup of water if you were on fire. There is a lot of classism in this part of town. In the southern parts, there is a lot of crime, but the people tend to look out for one another when they are not trying to get over on one another. There are not many historic sites, so the majority of the town appears to be relatively modern.
